Dr Keith R Houston B.V.Sc. Dip.Sc(dist). M.R.C.V.S

I have been a Veterinarian in Hamilton for over 30 years servicing the needs of rural and pet families. I work mainly from Chartwell Veterinary Hospital which is a small animal, general service and referral clinic which has all the latest technology to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of your loved ones.

I started, and funded the National CareVets Group, 15 years ago aimed at high quality pet care. The last 10 years I have been the New Zealand Veterinary Association representative for animal welfare and ethics in teaching at Wintec Waikato.

I have provided heavily subsidised veterinary services and donations to the Waikato SPCA in line with my community ethic of giving back to the community.

I have been the Veterinary Liaison Officer on the Waikato SPCA Committee for the last 6 years giving advice on matters of welfare and ethics as well as contributing to general discussions.

Also:

  • Chairman of the SPCA Trust Inc, set up to advance animal well being.
  • Former Vice Chairman of the Hamilton City Council Zoo Board.
  • Former Member of the Rates Review and Dog Registration consultative committees for Hamilton City Council.
  • Former Consultant to Pet Protect Insurance on animal welfare and ethics issues.
  • Former National Board of Super Liquor New Zealand
  • Director on a number of private companies.
  • Chairman of CareVets Charitable Foundation Trust.

I have 3 dogs, 2 miniature ponies, 3 chooks and 2 frogs and a blue tongue lizard.

I have great pleasure seeing CareVets Group nationally providing a friendly and professional service that satisfies and delights you each and every time you need our service.
