Vaccinations
Vaccinations play a significant role in building up your pet’s immunity and maintaining good health by protecting them from infectious diseases. Vaccinating a healthy pet is far more effective than treating a sick pet.
Puppies and kittens should receive a series of vaccinations starting at 6-8 weeks of age. If you have just welcomed a new pet into your home, we invite you to bring them down to one of our clinics to meet our team and discuss your pet’s individual vaccination requirements.
Cats are vaccinated against feline panleukopenia, rhinotracheitis and calicivirus. We also strongly recommend vaccinating against FIV, the feline aids virus.
Dogs are vaccinated against canine distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis, parainfluenza and leptospirosis. These are all given as a combination vaccination, so they only need a single injection. We also recommend vaccinating your dog against Canine Cough (also known as Kennel Cough, Bordatella), especially if you are planning to board your dog at a kennel facility.
Be sure to check with us well before a planned stay in a kennel or cattery, so our team can ensure your pet is covered and vaccinations are up to date to keep them well protected.
