Our Team:

Dr Abdullah
BVSc MVSc
Companion Animal Veterinarian

Abdullah graduated in 2015 in Turkey and spent his first 5 years of practice in a small animal referral hospital. After completing his master’s degree in Turkey he immigrated to New Zealand and has no intention to go back home! Abdullah has been practising as a Kiwi Veterinarian since passing the challenging New Zealand registration exam in April 2021. His areas of interest are small animal internal medicine and new pharmacological developments that science keeps feeding us every day. He enjoys every minute of taking care of animals, especially cats since they seem to have some kind of mysterious power over humanity!

Dr Johanneke
BVSc
Companion Animal Veterinarian

Johanneke qualified as a Veterinarian in 1997 at the Onderstepoort Campus of the University of Pretoria in South-Africa. She chose early on to be a companion animal Veterinarian and is still loving it after 25 years. Animal welfare is her passion, and she is fascinated by the human-animal bond. Johanneke never gets tired of watching pets and people enriching each other’s lives and loves being able to play a part in that “magic”. She considers herself to be a good “all-rounder” and aims to continue to learn and grow professionally until the day she retires.

Dr Sophia
BVSc
Companion Animal Veterinarian

Sophia has been working in companion animal clinics in New Zealand since graduating in 2013. There she has provided care for various companion animal species with her main focus on dogs and cats. Sophia finds it wonderful working with owners to give their pets great healthcare and see the love people have for their pets. Her particular interests include medicine, dentistry and pain management in older pets. Her life outside of the clinic is occupied by numerous pets, three children and various projects around the home, especially the never-finished garden.

Brianna
DVN
Clinic Coordinator

Brianna has always had a special affiliation with animals. She worked within the Zoo industry from the age of 14, then straight out of school studied zookeeping before moving on 8 years later to study Veterinary Nursing and taking on a Vet Nurse role. She has since changed focus into the administration side of the industry. Brianna enjoys triaging patients, discussing nutrition and seeing your fur babies grow each time they get to visit. Her hobbies outside of work include spending time with her dog, rabbit, family and friends as well as exploring New Zealand and the world.

Gamze
Veterinary Technician

Gamze has been working with small animals since she graduated from her Veterinary facility in Turkey in 2015. She has been working with CareVets as a Veterinary Technician since July 2021. Her special interests include vaccination programs for kittens and puppies, intensive care of patients and monitoring their recovery. Gamze assists our Veterinarians with surgical and post-operative patient care. She loves hearing your stories about your animals while consulting, and loves to see them grow and improve, knowing that she is making a positive difference to each animal. She looks forward to meeting you and your furry friends.

Fiona
Veterinary Nurse

Fiona has been in the Veterinary industry for over 20 years. She is still thoroughly enjoying the profession and still gets to learn new things every day. Her special interests are puppy preschool and she hopes to learn more about animal behaviour. Fiona’s hobbies are spending time with her family and friends as well as enjoying quality time with her own pets. Over the last couple of years she has become obsessed with tropical fish keeping!

Matt
DVN
Veterinary Nurse

Matt is passionate about helping animals and hates seeing them suffer. He wants to help animals thrive in life and improve animal well-being. Matt’s favourite animal is a cat; his favourite type of patient is a hospital patient where he gets to take care of pets by administering treatment and monitoring for any changes. When not working Matt enjoys cooking vegan food, spending time with pets (especially cats) and playing games with friends. You will see Matt both when coming in for a consultation and when dropping off or picking up an animal for surgery.

Emily
Vet Nurse Assistant

Emily has a passion for the Veterinary industry and is yet to dive into studying Veterinary Nursing. She recently started working with The Vet Centre Pukekohe and already has a reputation for taking home tiny kittens that need a new home! Her favourite part of working with The Vet Centre Pukekohe is the awesome people she gets to work with, meeting cute, fluffy animals and making animals feel more comfortable while in clinic. Emily’s hobbies include spending time with her family and animals and she looks forward to seeing you soon.
