Our Team:

Dr Caitlin
Veterinarian
Dr Rowan Jackson-Stewart
Veterinarian

Rowan graduated with the class of 2016 from the University of Glasgow and worked in mixed practice in England for four years before making the move to New Zealand. She packed away her gumboots and joined the CareVets Johnsonville team in September 2020 to concentrate on her small animal career path. Rowan particularly enjoys continuity in the vet clinic and loves following animals throughout their many life stages and really getting to know them as individuals, helping their owners to make the best decisions to keep their pets as healthy and happy as possible along the way. Rowan loves the variety offered in small animal practice and has equal interests in surgery and medicine. She has a dearly missed cat of her own, Skye, back in Scotland who she keeps in touch with regularly and sends her a card and a present every year for her birthday and Christmas. Skye has been brought up very well and always sends a video message to say thank you! When not at work Rowan likes to keep fit and active and you will find her out and about hiking, running, biking or climbing whilst exploring the rest of the country. She also enjoys socialising with friends and likes nothing better than sitting back with a cold pint after a day of activities or finding a new cafe and enjoying a good cake.

Alanah
Clinic Coordinator

Alanah had been in the animal industry for over 6 years before joining us. She completed her Diploma of Veterinary Nursing in 2022, and joined the CareVets Johnsonville team in 2023 as their Clinic Coordinator. She has a passion for animal nutrition and enjoys providing advice to owners to ensure their pet gets the best nutrition. When not at work Alanah enjoys going on bush walks with her dog, Rio.

Claudia
Lead Veterinary Nurse

Claudia had been working as a Veterinary Nurse within the Wellington region for over 6 years before joining the Johnsonville team in January 2023 as our Lead Nurse. Claudia loves working as a Veterinary Nurse and enjoys surgical nursing, the hospital nursing care of her patients, as well as educating owners on how to best care for their sick animals. Claudia has a Kelpie x Collie called Bowie, who comes to work with her most days.

Jade
Veterinary Nurse

Jade graduated from UCOL Manawatu with the Diploma of Veterinary Nursing at the end of 2021, joining the CareVets team in June 2022. She has a passion for all things animal related and enjoys being able to make bonds with all animals that come in and help owners with any advice they need to help look after their pets. Jade is looking forward to expanding her knowledge in all things Veterinary Nursing, especially emergency medicine! When not working she enjoys spending time with friends or at home, reading a book or watching movies. Jade has 1 cat back home (Gypsy) and another here in Johnsonville (Atlas).

Lucy
Veterinary Nurse

Lucy graduated in 2020 with a Diploma of Veterinary Nursing through Otago Polytechnic. She joined the CareVets Johnsonville team in 2023 after having worked in various clinics across Wellington and the Gold Coast. Her interests include emergency cases, dentistry, and laboratory work. She has found a love for exotic animals after her time away in Australia and is interested in learning more about them. Lucy doesn’t have any fur babies, so is often seen cuddling patients, particularly the boarding cats. However, she is a major plant mum! On her days off, she is out seeing friends, attending aerial classes, or reading with a cup of tea.

Mikaela
Veterinary Nurse

Mikaela qualified at the end of 2021 with a New Zealand Diploma in Veterinary Nursing through Otago and WelTec Polytechnic, joining the CareVets Johnsonville team in October of the same year. Mikaela loves interacting with clients and helping them to provide the best possible care for their much loved pets. She has a particular interest in monitoring anaesthesia and assisting with surgical procedures, emergency medicine and procedures, and diagnostic testing. She is particularly interested about learning more about interpretation of test results and how to care for her patients based on these findings. Mikaela does not have any pets of her own but does have the company of three cats who live with her. When not at work, Mikaela loves spending time with family and friends, exploring the Wellington region, going on walks/hikes and spending time at the beach.

Caroline
Retail & Inventory Coordinator

Caroline is our longest standing member of the team having worked at Care Vets Johnsonville since April 2008. Caroline brings a wealth of knowledge about all companion animals to the team and has a particular passion for aquatic, avian and reptile species and their care. Being brought up with animals all her life, she is also able to offer advice to clients on care of breeding dogs, nutrition and general animal husbandry. Caroline is responsible for stocking our shop with a vast range of products to suit your pet’s needs, and consequently knows all her products inside out. Caroline has lots of pets of her own including three Chihuahuas, a rather large Mastiff, four rats, a selection of fish and a chicken; all of which keep her very busy when she is not looking after her clients and their pets.

Ashleigh
Retail / Reception

Ashleigh joined the team at CareVets Johnsonville in January 2022 as a retail assistant. Prior to joining the team, she actually completed a degree in acting, and then worked in various retail and customer service roles. Ashleigh just loves meeting all our clients and their animals and making sure they are well looked after during their visit. She has always had a love for animals of all kinds, so says that being able to combine that with her passion for customer service is a dream come true! Ashleigh has her own pets, including two dogs and a cat at her parents’ house, and two cats who live with her and her partner at home. When not at work, Ashleigh enjoys reading, arts and crafts, playing videogames and watching movies.

Melissa
Retail / Reception

Melissa joined the team at Carevets Johnsonville in October 2023 as a part-time Retail/Reception assistant. Prior to joining the team Melissa completed her degree in Korean and teaching English and is currently studying Vet Nursing through Weltec and Otago. Melissa loves all animals and is always excited to meet each client and their different pets. She has grown up in a very cat-orientated household but still has a strong affinity for dogs.

Kaitlyn
Retail / Reception

Kaitlyn joined the team in December 2020 as a part-time Retail Assistant. Kaitlyn is no stranger to the team and has been an extended team member for some time, so we were pleased to make it official and welcome her on board. She brings her love of animals to the clinic and loves meeting new animals, getting to know them and their dedicated owners. Kaitlyn has been brought up around animals and has cats and a dog at home. When not at work, she can often be found horse riding or relaxing and reading a good book.
