Our Team:

Dr Warren Stroud
BVSc
Surgical Veterinarian

Warren has been working as a Veterinarian for nearly 30 years. He has worked in both companion and production veterinary roles and is currently working part-time as a surgical vet at the CareVets Kapiti. Warren accepts referrals from other vets for more complex surgeries in addition to our regular surgical work at Kapiti. Warren and his wife Lynn live on a lifestyle block with a host of pets, horses, ducks, chooks, dogs and a cat. He likes working with livestock, wood chopping and gluten free baking in his spare time.

Dr Kate Morgan
BVSc MSc
Veterinarian

Kate graduated from Veterinary school in 2022. Vet school was her combined mid-life crisis and bucket list! Before becoming a Veterinarian, Kate was a Veterinary Nurse for 5 years and worked in conservation before then. She loves talking to people about their pets, helping keep them healthy and solving any problems. Kate’s down time is ruled by her dog Leela who is a Heading dog x Pig dog.

Dr Ryan Collins

Veterinarian

Ryan has been working as a locum with CareVets since July 2022. Most of his Veterinary career has been spent working with small animals and with New Zealand wildlife and exotics at Massey University and Wellington Zoo. In his spare time he likes to spend as much time as he can at the beach or in the forests of New Zealand.

Kimberly

Clinic Coordinator

Kim started working at CareVets Kapiti in October 2021, having previously worked at the CareVets Johnsonville clinic for 2 years and at PetVet Lower Hutt before that for 2 years. She enjoys all aspects of nursing with surgery being her favourite – she has worked with a lot of orthopaedics. Kim currently has one goat named Iris, one rabbit named Spud and one goldfish named Frank. Her and her partner are really enjoying living on the Kapiti Coast, there is always lots to do!

Senior Surgical Veterinary Nurse

Rachael started at CareVets Kapiti in April 2023. She was qualified in 1998 with her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing at Massey University. Over the last 20 years she has been working at various clinics over the Kapiti Coast and Lower Hutt. Rachael enjoys surgical nursing, especially orthopaedics. In her spare time she plays golf, stand up paddle boarding, cycling and socialising with her friends. She also enjoys spending time with her dog Riley, cats Lucy and Ramon, and chickens Linda, Steve and Cher.

Senior Veterinary Nurse

Heather started with CareVets Kapiti in March 2023 after returning from a 4 year break having her son. Previously to that she had worked in local clinics for 7 years. Heather has always had a strong interest in hospital/medical nursing and is keen to upskill in these areas. In her spare time she enjoys life with her young son and their kitty George.

Ashley

Veterinary Nurse

Ashley has always had a love for animals and was blessed to grow up around them. She was previously employed at Ramati Vets where she worked part-time whilst completing her Veterinary Nursing Diploma. In her spare time she enjoys getting outdoors and taking her puppy to explore Kapiti. She has 3 other cats who keep her family busy. Ashley enjoys all aspects of nursing, but surgery has become a recent favourite of hers.

Melik
Veterinary Nurse

Melik has been working in the Veterinary industry since 2006 when she graduated as a veterinary nurse. Seeing as she has no pets of her own, she takes full advantage of spoiling all of our patients to the fullest possible degree. Outside of work Melik enjoys adventures with her young daughter and traveling Aotearoa as much as possible.

Sharon

Lead Receptionist

Sharon has been working in the Veterinary industry since 2016. She enjoys the constant client and pet contact we experience in this busy clinic, along with being able to assist clients with advice regarding our products and protocols. Sharon has two small dogs which keep her husband and her laughing on a regular basis. They love being able to walk them on the gorgeous Kapiti beaches and around our rivers and parks. Sharon reads to relax and enjoys socialising with friends and family. Her daughter Molly also works as a receptionist at another CareVets clinic so we always have plenty to talk about.

Cody
Receptionist

Cody is studying Veterinary nursing while working here as a Receptionist. He has three dogs and one cat that all come here. Sammi, his 11 year old Doberman being one that kickstarted his love of animals and inspired Cody to enter this industry. He started at CareVets Kapiti in November 2021.
